Compliance
BS 5839-1 requires a zone plan at all control panels. Missing or outdated plans are a common cause of enforcement notices.
Fire alarm zone plans
A fire alarm zone plan is a vital part of any fire detection and alarm system. It is a requirement of BS 5839-1 that a clear, up-to-date zone plan is displayed next to every fire alarm control and indicating equipment (CIE) panel.
Without it, both building occupants and the fire and rescue service may lose valuable time in an emergency.
01 Why they matter
BS 5839-1 requires a zone plan at all control panels. Missing or outdated plans are a common cause of enforcement notices.
Zone diagrams help staff and building users quickly identify the area in alarm and respond appropriately.
Clear diagrams allow firefighters to rapidly locate the affected zone, plan searches, and access the building safely.
Demonstrates that your fire alarm system is properly documented and maintained.
02 The work
Using both qualifications and on-site experience, I create accurate zone plans tailored to your building and alarm system.
You print, frame, or laminate the plans as you choose. Fitting framed plans on a return visit can be agreed as an optional extra. That is mounting the plans, not installing a fire alarm.
I aim for zone plans that are clear for your staff and for attending fire crews.
Monix Fire Safety Ltd does not install fire alarms, emergency lighting, fire doors or extinguishers, and does not sell products. The optional return visit is only to fit framed zone plans where that has been agreed.
